Kidder Hill Community Wind is planned for a windy, quarter-mile stretch of private land located along the Lowell/Irasburg town line in Orleans County, Vermont, more than five miles northeast of Lowell Village and over four miles northwest of Irasburg Village. Access to the project site is off a dead-end Class 4 town road.

The property is mostly forested with some open logged and grazing acreage. A portion of the property is currently developed with a residence and other improvements including potable water source, wastewater system, and residential solar trackers and another portion pastures cows. The 645± acre property also affords ample space for various other land uses, including logging, snowmobiling and other recreational activities.   The host landowner’s residence will be the closet structure to the wind turbines.

The Project will be located off a dead-end, Class 4 town road near the Irasburg/Lowell town line, off the north side of State Route 58.

Some upgrading to the existing private driveway will be required From State Route 58 at Kidder Hill Road access to the hilltop will proceed by the driveway that extends from Kidder Hill Road.

During installation, a road of approximately 20 feet in width will travel to the wind turbines, and another stretch approximately 35 feet in width between the two turbines. These widths are temporary and are used to enable movement of installation cranes between the wind turbine base areas for raising turbine components. After installation, the driveway will be top-dressed, narrowed and returned to typical driveway width.
